The Winter Lakes Alliance
The Winter Lakes Alliance is
a non-profit organization. Our purpose is to promote the preservation and
conservations of area lakes as a natural resource. We work to advance safety and
education, including protection of the habitat and stocking programs and to
maintain open communication with the appropriate governmental authority to
benefit the continuation of high quality lakes in our area. The lakes in our
area that are represented by the Alliance are Lake Winter, Barber, Barker, Black
Dan, Island, Bluegill, Fish trap, Blaisdell, Hunter and Lake Loretta. Anyone
that lives on these lakes, goes fishing or boating or has any interest in
promoting or protecting our lakes is welcome to join the group. Group meetings
are on the Winter Area Community Calendar and in the Sawyer County Gazette. The
group sponsors the following events – Kid’s Free Fishing Tournament in June,
Kid’s Free Ice Fishing Tournament in February, Musky Fishing Tournament in July,
Cribbage Tournaments in the winter, group potluck in summer and a Vegas Day
Fundraiser in spring. A scholarship program for an area high school graduate
going into conservation was also started this past year. Further information
about the club or how to join can be obtained by calling 715-266-2435 or writing
to the Alliance at PO Box 368, Winter, WI 54896.
